The Center for Healthcare Management is proud to announce its 6th Forum: “Worldwide expert meeting on challenges to market access, strategic development and life sciences partnerships” to be held April 24/25, 2017 at the Columbia Global Center in Paris, France.
The Forum is by invitation only and specifically designed to allow participants to exchange ideas and explore collaborative efforts in a confidential setting. Market access and product bundling are facing reimbursement challenges in all markets with changing payment mechanisms, regulations and the impact of new governments and economics. Attend the 6th Forum to identify new trends and incorporate them into future products and strategies necessary for success in a market of shifting US and EU priorities. For the past two years, Health Affairs has published blog posts arising from the Center for Healthcare Management’s forums, held in Berlin. These events are unlike a typical conference — more conversation than presentation, and more participation by various actors in the health care sector than discussion of a single topic. Why Is Change So Slow?
The same question bedeviled the attendees as challenges all who are interested in improvement in the health sector: If the distance between the value we obtain from our health care investment and what we receive for that investment is so apparent, why is the system so resistant to change?
And the winner is…
An exciting week is ahead of us: the people of the United States of America will elect their 45th president. While as a cross-border commuter between Europe and the US I was usually questioned about healthcare policies the conversation has shifted to the presidential campaign over the last couple of months. I could now bet on who will win or chime in the ongoing social media discussion. But I’d like to offer a more personal perspective here.
It is almost twenty years ago that many young Europeans including myself went to the US with just two suitcases to build a career and a life. The motivation was that our aspirations and dreams would be fueled by the spirit of the American culture. Many of us were discouraged by the hierarchies of European cultures in which nobody listens to your ideas unless you are old and grey-haired. For us the US represented fairness and unlimited possibilities – if we work hard and build on our talent and knowledge. A dream that came true for many of us.
WeHelpen patient community platform receives Zimmer Biomet’s European Connected Health Innovation Award

In a pitch of five selected finalists, Netherlands-based cooperation WeHelpen successfully convinced a jury of experts from healthcare, economics and academia that they should be selected to receive the 2016 Zimmer Biomet European Connected Health Innovation Award. WeHelpen is an online environment where patients and caregivers are being prepared and supported to set up and use an informal support network of family, friends and people from their neighborhood. Through the online community, patients are challenged to participate in society themselves.

After last month’s Forum we draw a balance and are proud to hear that attendees are raving about our event “Excellent content! Incomparable to other seminars or forums”. It makes us happy to see that rethinking conferencing is worth the effort and in high demand. Getting back to face-to-face communication seems to be well appreciated by the healthcare industry & beyond.
